Think Local, Give Local

The Garces Foundation supports the local Philadelphia immigrant community with the purpose of ensuring that they have access to the resources they need to live healthy, educated, nutritious lives. The Garces Foundation hosts quarterly clinics at Garces Dental Group where uninsured patients can receive free dental care and other important health services. If English is your second language, the Garces Foundation Learning Annex offers nine classes for those who want to learn English and better their professional skills.

During the spring, summer, and fall growing seasons, groups of 30-50 school-aged youth are invited to visit the Garces’ Luna Farm in Bucks County for four-hour field trips. Participants are engaged in hands on learning activities that include planting and harvesting vegetables, cooking their own lunch with produce they harvest, and participating in physical exercise and a nature walk.

Where do Perch come from? Lake Eerie.

What makes it a sustainable fish? Yellow perch caught with trap net in Canada, Pennsylvania, and New York waters is a “Best Choice” because the stock is believed to be healthy and it is not caught with any depleted species. That’s a key part of whether a fish is sustainable – whether it is caught with other fish that may be part of a depleted species.

Is it better grilled or fried? You’ll have to tell us!

Living that Jetty Life

Jetty designs and prints one-of-a-kind apparel almost entirely in-house in their Southern NJ warehouse. They use an Eco-friendly, water-based ink system to minimize environmental impact. Cool right? You can get your very own Buena Onda t-shirt and some other cool stuff by the team at Jetty. Stay tuned for more apparel coming soon!

But Jetty is so much more than just an apparel company. Check out their summer festival, Hop Sauce: A Gathering of Craft Beer & Spice Enthusiasts which is the “craft beer meets hot sauce meets music event” you just can’t miss – and it’s a fundraiser for their Jetty Rock Foundation.
